Light Sedation using Laughing Gas
We use laughing gas right here in our clinic to help patients over 3 years old relax during their dental visit. It's a safe and easy way to reduce anxiety and make dental care more comfortable.
  • Laughing gas is used in dentistry to manage pain and anxiety. Dentists often recommend it for patients who feel nervous or fearful about dental procedures. It's straightforward and safe for both adults and children older than three years old.
  • The primary indication for laughing gas is to calm a patient, making dental work less intimidating and more comfortable. This is especially helpful during longer procedures or for those with low levels of dental anxiety or gag reflex.
  • In terms of sedation levels, laughing gas provides a light sedation. Patients remain conscious and can respond to instructions, but they feel more relaxed and may experience slight euphoria.
  • Laughing gas sits at the milder end of the sedation spectrum, offering an effective way to ease patient fears and discomfort with minimal risk.
$1000
Deep Sedation with IV Sedation
IV sedation is available right in our clinic, no hospital needed. It makes dental visits easier by softening memories of the procedure. Plus, you'll recover faster than with general anaesthesia.
  • IV sedation is used for adult patients who cannot endure dental work due to fear, have a low pain threshold, or need a significant amount of dental work completed in fewer visits.
  • The indications for IV sedation include severe anxiety, a history of traumatic dental experiences, and the need for lengthy dental procedures. It is also suitable for patients with a strong gag reflex or adults with medical conditions that make dental work challenging without sedation.
  • IV sedation provides a deeper level of sedation than laughing gas, allowing adult patients to remain conscious but in a deep state of relaxation. They often remember little of the procedure afterwards.
  • On the dental sedation spectrum, IV sedation sits between the light effects of laughing gas and the full sleep and unconsciousness provided by general anaesthetics.
$2500
Complete Sleep with General Anaesthetics
General anaesthetics are used when lighter sedations—like laughing gas or IV—is inadequate. GA renders the patient unconscious and ensures the procedure is both pain-free and not remembered.
  • Sleep dentistry, which uses general anaesthetics (GA), aims to ensure dental treatments are performed without the patient experiencing pain during the procedure. GA is used when local anaesthesia is insufficient.
  • General anaesthetics benefit children with special health care needs, ensuring their dental care is handled safely, compassionately, and with a focus on comfort, without overwhelming them.
  • GA is used by paediatric dentists for children, including those aged 0 to 6, who may find it difficult to cooperate during dental procedures due to their limited understanding and patience. For very young children, IV sedation is not used, and treatment may be provided under GA instead.
  • A strong gag reflex can make dental work difficult. General anaesthesia removes this reflex, leading to a more comfortable dental treatment.
